Matchbook Learning is where you can make a real difference

about matchbook

You think education could be better. We do too.

Everyone wants schools to be better, but we must choose to make them different. The future of humanity depends on the future of learning, and while that future is here, it is not evenly distributed. It is educational malpractice to educate our children in a system not designed for their success and flourishing.

This is why Matchbook Learning launched Matchbook, a dynamic K–8 charter school, and pioneered innovation with The Match High School and Career Center — a cutting-edge educational experience designed for the future.

We take care of our people.

Why our team loves matchbook learning

Nathan Tuttle

“Morning circles are my favorite part of the day. They’re a time to connect, share our joys and
challenges, and refocus on gratitude and our mission-driven work. It’s a beautiful reminder of
why we’re here and who we serve.

Mrs. Fields
Instructional Assistant

A huge source of joy in my job here at MBL is the connections and impressions that I make with
students daily. It is always an honor to be a part of children's lives and be an important figure in
many of their lives. Being so impactful makes me even more intentional about things I do, say,
and teach. Some of my best memories here include the pie in the face challenge for I-READ
passers, field trips, and racing students from the portables to the main building to give them that
sense of fun and enjoyment for school. I am proud of myself for stepping out into something that
seemed scary, which was transitioning to a full time teacher. I taught myself that I can overcome
and arise to any challenge.

Mrs. Felker
Teacher

The thing that I enjoy the most at MBL is having former students come to see me and give me
hugs, and the fact that I’ve been able to develop these meaningful relationships with them. I
love to see my current and former students succeed in school and outside of the school setting.

Mrs. Quevedo
MLL Instructional Assistant

I never imagined myself working with children, but I’m so glad I was given this opportunity. It has
taught me so much in such a short amount of time. I’ve grown to truly enjoy working with the
kids—especially the kindergarteners, who hold a special place in my heart. My fondest
memories are of seeing the look on a child’s face when something finally “clicks.
” That moment
of understanding is priceless. I also love being part of a team that’s so supportive and
welcoming. The staff, especially my team, has made me feel right at home at MBL. It’s an
experience I cherish, and I’m grateful to be part of something so meaningful.

Dr. Tolliver
Assistant Principal

I absolutely love working with our staff! The teachers, administrators, interventionists, the
restorative team, the cafeteria staff, and custodians are all kind people who genuinely care
about our students and our school community. Some of my most joyous and memorable
moments have occurred at our community events such as our Summer Bash, Hispanic Heritage
and African-American Heritage Celebrations, Trunk or Treat, and Celebration of Learning. Most
of our families participate and it gives me a chance to build relationships with parents and family
members. I am incredibly proud of collaborating with the leadership. We work together to meet
the needs of our students and staff every morning at 6:15am. I love their dedication and
commitment to our Matchbook family.

Miss Jacome
1st grade teacher

Being at Matchbook has been a rollercoaster ride; there have been so many ups and downs,
but through it all, what has kept me here all this time is the love for all my students! Seeing my
past students from when I first started graduating high school and pursuing their dreams
reminds me that everything I did, everything I'm doing, and everything I will do is to be able to lift
a new generation into believing they can achieve whatever they put their minds to.

Ms. Iraheta
Administrative Assistant

I love seeing our kids everyday, connecting with them and learning more about them!

Mr. Gutzwiller
Operations Specialist

The supportive leadership, amazingly helpful staff, and positive energy the students bring to the
school make working at Matchbook an absolute joy!

Mrs. Romero
Attendance Secretary

Being able to see the students every morning and receiving a hug from them is one of the things
I enjoy most about working at Matchbook. I never get tired of seeing the joy on their faces from
their accomplishments or participation during school events. We work hard on our
communication with parents and being able to foster long-standing relationships with families.

Mrs. Eichel
ELA 8th grade

Staff support is very strong here. Whether you are in the same grade band or not, a teacher or
not, everyone is always willing to lend a hand. I love seeing my students get to the point of
feeling comfortable enough with me to share their day to day happenings with me. Seeing the
growth of my 8th graders and the improvement of quality in their essays at the end of the school
year makes me immensely proud.

Mrs. Romeril
Teacher

I enjoy watching the students grow and the excitement they have when they master a skill. The
most memorable moments at Matchbook have come from the excitement of my third graders
passing IREAD-3. I’m most proud of building strong relationships with students, as well as staff
members.

Sherry Jones
Front Office Manager

I love working at Match High School and Career Center because the team environment among the office staff & teachers is truly exceptional. It's incredibly satisfying to be part of a place where we directly support student and staff success every day. The administration genuinely values everyones contributions, which makes coming to work a positive and appreciated experience. Most importantly, it's fulfilling to know our behind-the-scenes work helps students achieve their dreams.

Sandra Hunt
Entrepreneurship Teacher

I love being an educator at The Match High School and Career Center because I’m surrounded by amazing people who all share the same passion—putting students first. For us, teaching isn’t just about delivering lessons; it’s about really seeing our students, understanding what they’re going through, and meeting them where they are. Sometimes that means helping with academic struggles, and other times it means supporting them through personal challenges or things going on at home. What makes The Match special is that we believe in teaching the whole student. With the support of a caring administration and a team that truly has each other’s backs, it feels like more than just a school—it feels like a community. And I’m proud to be part of it.

I really love the family/team atmosphere created by the teachers and staff at The Match High School and Career Center. It truly allows every student to be seen, heard and empowered now for their future's to come!

NJason Kramerame
Welding/Construction Teacher

What I really love about instructing at the Match High School and Career Center is the student first atmosphere and great team relationships. Teachers and the Administration at the Match go above and beyond to help each Individual student find the right fit for their academic and/or career path. Watching the progress our students make every year is always a blessing. Being able to make such a change in so many young adults lives creates a butterfly effect, that I truly think will make the Match stand out from the rest!

Khiry Hollowell

I love The Match High School Career Center for being a place of empowering our youth for the future. The team is a family, sharing common goals to succeed. I feel at home and safe to teach our students the fundamentals of life, and taking their academics serious.

Brianne Cockrell

I love The Match High School because it truly feels like a family—everyone is supportive, connected, and invested in each other’s success. The school offers pathways and career opportunities I wish I had when I was a student, helping young people discover and pursue their passions. The Match prepares students for all futures, whether that means enrolling in college, enlisting in the military, or starting a career right after graduation. It’s inspiring to be part of a community that empowers students with real choices and meaningful preparation for life.

Pilar Ammons

I love the Match. It's like family. At the Match, there's a deep sense of community where every student, educator and staff member is genuinely invested in one another's SUCCESS! What truly sets us apart is the spirit of collaboration: educators openly share best practices, uplift one another and work as a team to ensure students receive a meaningful, high quality academic experience.
