Students are more perceptive than we give them credit for. They know when they’ve become a part of an educational machine that sees them as a number, and not a person. When their classroom experiences are boring, irrelevant, and disconnected from their interests, student motivation declines. Matchbook’s blended model meets students where they are not where they are supposed to be according to age and grade level. We scaffold students’ abilities to their peer group and beyond by tapping into their intrinsic motivation for autonomy, mastery and purpose in life.
