5 Key Differences

Motivation

Technology, excellent design, and newly coached human capital alone will not suffice in turning around an underpeforming school.  Our model looked at the research (see Daniel Pink's book "Drive") at how high performing individuals are motivated and embedded these three key drivers of motivation:  autonomy, mastery and purpose.  In order for our students to excel academically and have high levels of motivation, they must become autonomous learners and performers, obtain mastery over the content and habits of success, and have a life purpose on which to set goals and make decisions.  We at Matchbook believe that in order for teachers to teach this to students, they must first experience autonomy, mastery and purpose themselves in their craft of teaching.
